Our Very First Christmas Ornament

I am having a terrible time with blogger...I had to upload this picture 9 times before it loaded correctly...arrrggghhh.  Needless to say, I can't upload entire stories or series until
I get this problem fixed.
Anyhow, when David and I first started dating, I received this little
mouse in a tennis shoe from David's mother, Bonnie.
It has gone on a Christmas tree every year since.....
Did I tell you I started dating him when I was just 15 years old?
I married him at 19 years old.
I love him more today than I could have ever imagined!!!

"Digital" Wreath for Halloween

I am trying to get my "spook" on....
Black wreath, orange hatchet, bloody fingers.
Did it scare you?
I wonder what the UPS man will think?

Unique Baby Gift

One of my great friends had her 2nd child last week.
Since this child is another boy, it is sort of hard
to come up with ideas for gifts.
I decided to make a keepsake.

I Can Finally Show Off Our 2010 Christmas Tree!!!

I had a hard time putting up decorations this year for some odd reason.
Typically, we put them up the first Sunday of Advent.
Here it is, December 18, 2010 and I finally got it done!
I started to put on the ornaments 2 days ago, but
got a lovely migraine and had to stop.
Getting a migraine while doing a particular "something" is
along the same lines of eating something and then
puking your guts out.....you tend to avoid the food
you were eating because you associate it with
PUKING.
I was hanging ornaments; got a migraine....so, the
only natural thing to do is stay far far away from
the ornaments!
Believe me, it was scary to pick up the first ornament after
having the migraine....I just waited for the flash
of lightning to blazing across my eyes......
ALAS!  It did NOT appear....so, I got it FINISHED!!!
Merry Christmas friends and please, if you don't already know........
GOD LOVES YOU AND THERE'S NOT A THING
YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!
Isn't that the
most beautiful feeling in the world???

15 Minutes (Days 35 - 46) Office/Studio Makeover

Well, I can finally see the the light at the end of the tunnel.
I had a free day, so I spent it doing 15 minutes at a time.
I would work for 15 minutes, then I would take a 15 minute break
and either do something else like work with daughter on
her schoolwork or chat in the Flylady Chatroom.

I had a tiny small annoying urge to paint the upper
cabinets a buttery yellow.  Most people agreed with
me and thought it would look great.
Being the budget-type, I just couldn't justify
buying another gallon of pain when I already
had the turquoise.....2 gallons to be exact.
These cabinets on took 1/2 a gallon.....WOW,
did I overestimate on that one.
Lowe's VALSPAR Gentle Wave is the color.
I still might eventually make the upper cabinet
doors into blackboards....still thinking though.

Remember that the days are really 15 minute time slots.
So,  from beginning of this project to this exact moment,
I've spent a total of 11 1/2 hours!
This would have been a bear to try to accomplish in even one
weekend.  I would have become depressed and decided to
not even touch this junk room.
By taking it in short spurts, I was able to stop and think about it
and just do SOMETHING for 15 minutes.
It is now an enjoyable room and I can still spend 15 minutes
filling the cabinets with USABLE things instead
of creating piles all over the room.
I got the table desk from Craigslist for $50.00.
I originally thought it would replace the current dining
table I have, but when I got there and saw
that it is a wee bit tiny for our dining area,
I decided it would make an awesome desk.
I've been waiting more than a year to use the grapefruit
bowls in this office....before, I couldn't even see the
top of my desk much less find ROOM on the desk
for this bowls.
Please make sure you look to the right of my blog and click the
15 Minutes link to see all my posts related to this
project.  I am not done and will continue to update as
I do more organizing and decorating.
Please let this be a motivator for you if you, too, have a JUNK ROOM.

Dollar Tree Halloween Props....WHEEEEEE!

Yay! It is September 1st! That means I can start decorating for Halloween and not be considered WEIRD....well...OK...I already know I'm weird, it just makes
me seem LESS weird!
I ran to the Dollar Tree before others discovered the goodies....
I found gruesome body organs for $1!
They looked just fine on the meat trays they come in....but, I had BIGGER
plans for my little heart and brain....

This would also make a great April Fool's Day gag too, don't you think?
Dollar Tree also has the family picture holograms that change to evil looking skeletons....just $1.
I wasn't thrilled with the cheap frames, but I can fix that.....sheesh, am I complaining about a cheap $1 frame??? NOOOooooOOOOOooo way!

SCORE! I Got an Amazing Lampshade....LOOK!

This lampshade was found online for $45.....
It is a 1950s lampshade

This lampshade was found at a local antique/flea market for $2.00!
She didn't even have it where a person could see it.....I had to DIG and find it.
The actual lamp is TOTAL MARBLE BABY....I got it for $16.00 at an antique store.
I actually got TWO of them.

See all the glorious fiberglass??
Isn't she awesome!

Up close and personal.....sigh.....
$2.00....yes, the whole lamp is $18.00!
I think I have developed a lamp fetish.....UH OH!!

A View of My Bedroom....

This is the door way...the one with the 1950's prom dress on it.
Yes, my bathroom is sherbet orange....soon to be a creamy country white.
My side of the bed.
I got the table for $10.00 at a garage sale...it was short, so I added the blue suitcase to it.
The lamp is a thrifted makeover lamp that can be seen somewhere on this blog.
All of the pictures have been thrifted for $5.00 or less.
I want more.

I got this picture for $2.00 at a thrift store....it just called my name! Look at the pink in it.
The pillows are a hodge podge...left is an adorable sweater that I made into a pillow. The middle pillows are from a local flea market for $1.00 each.
The pom-pon pillow is my husband's grandmother's handmade pillow.

This is David's side of the bed...the manly man side....
All thrifted or given to me.
The top one is new, from Big Lots when my daughters remodeled their room...yep, I stole it.
The stand is just a vintage camp seat.
My window...sigh....
I have a wonderful shelf to put above it....just have to get busy painting.
The "curtain" is actually a head wrap....
The lights create a wonderful glow at night.

Vintage tray...thrifted...$1.00.
I plan to hang my necklaces from it on magnetic hooks.
Birdhouse is from a garage sale...$.50.
There is a very vintage 1940s wedding cake topper in the birdcage.
I got it for $1.50...yes, $1.50!!!
I found out it was glass when I accidentally dropped it....and the groom's head fell off....akkkkkk.
Notice my tricked out name tag laying beside it....I love my tricked out name tag.

I found this article in a vintage magazine and have had it hanging for several months.....

This week, I got creative with the numerous vintage hats I've scored over the years.
I made a collage....

Above my mirror are more hats and a wonderful GIFT from a dear friend who is very talented with floral decorations. THANKS KIM!
The wall color looks different in each picture...the closest to the real color would be the last picture.
Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment, I try to visit blogs of people who comment....I like snooping. :)

Vintage Finger Wave, Vintage Show, Vintage Material...SQUEAL!

It just so happened that my hair appointment fell the day before the Vintage Tulsa Show. My hairdresser, had some spare time to play with a finger wave on my hair. I have been talking to her about this for at least a year.
Then while I was flipping through her very modern hairstyle books....THERE IT WAS!!
The finger wave is all over the place!
So, she decided to give it the ol' beauty school try....
Ignore the dorky look....I am no good at taking pictures of myself...
I just don't know how those teens can stand to do this.
Yah, after taking this picture and looking at it on the computer....
I ran and emptied that trash.
That is certainly the upside of doing a blog...you get to see
yourself and your surrounding through "different" eyes.

I was really surprised to find that my manly man liked this style....
He never ceases to amaze me.

Here is the back...the color is darker than normal, but it stays that
way for about a week then the colors I love will come out.
I have a lot of people ask about my hair color...
My system is....
I do an all over color every other trip to beauty shop.
The in between trips...I get 2 - 3 colors foiled in.
I have no method to my colors I choose...I am even
trying to get up enough nerve to go LUCY red.
I feel like I only have one life...why limit the colors?

I. Want. This.
I just didn't have $95.00 for it....sniff, sniff.

I. still. want. this.

I think I shall learn to sew well enough to make this....IN PLUS SIZE, not BARBIE size....sheesh, it must have been a ZERO.

My sister, Terri, looking at vintage tablecloths.

Vintage cards galore!!!

Wouldn't these be adorable in a kitchen???

Now....here is my day old hair!
I liked it better the next day.
Also, this is my 2nd dress!
I used vintage material...$2.00/4 yards.
LOVE IT!
This dress cost only $5.00 to make!!!
The sign is from the Vintage Show....$25.00!
Won't it go great in my dining area????
That's my fire pit in the background!
The next Vintage Tulsa Show is August 7th & 8th....want to go with me???
