THE COUNTY FAIR 101

We survived the county fair!
Now, if you aren't familiar with the county fair....let me introduce you to "County Fair 101".
First, you MUST have the proper attire.....

Then you dig through all your embarrassing photos and pick the one that will best represent how redneck your family really is....and enter it in the photography competition....

You let your children show off their obsessions...er, uh, talents......

She got a blue ribbon on both pictures....the Phantom of the Opera and the abstract painting with the red bird in a tree.....

Then, you drag your mother into the program by having her enter her picture.....and get a blue ribbon while you get a WHITE RIBBON....yep, should have seen that one comin'.....just think, I could have had a RED ribbon if I didn't have my mother's picture to compete with.....

Next, you see how many animals you can lead on leashes....'cept down here yonder....we call 'em halters.....now, don't go thinkin' that they are the spaghetti strap tops that you see them thar girls wearin' up north....

Then you lead them thar animals into the show ring.....yep, just like a circus.....that man is NOT tickling the goat....he is checking the MUSKLES.....he is THE JUDGE...and he KNOWS ALL!
(wave to grandma and grandpa who are sitting in the stands)

Woweeee....did you know you can lead a COW w/ a halter....and no, still not a shirt kinda halter......notice how she stands there a purty w/ her dainty leg back just at the right angle to make her look even purtier.....

Dedication.....don't know another word for that.....this girl...aka, Sydni, has a pulled muscle and STILL SHOWED HER CALF.......tears and all.

And what exactly does a grand champion animal look like you ask?

DERRRRRHHHHHHHH
(To see this fine speciman up close, make sure you click the picture)

Seriously, Sydni got Grand Champion Heifer and Regan won Grand Champion goat. Regan also won Jr. Showmanship with her goat. She won two blue ribbons with her drawing and painting. We had a great time and are gearing up for the next fair in Arkansas!!!!

oh those fairs were so much fun, but I was always so happy when they ended. Lots of hard work and lots of trips back and forth to the fair grounds.

Congrats girls, way to go. Sydni made me want to cry, with her in pain.

Such fun! It is a lot of work and gets to be long but it is all worth it in the end! I still have not posted about our show days from our State Fair at the end of July but I intend on doing it soon. Thanks for sharing!

Your grand champion cracked me up. We used to have a pygmy goat for a pet. She was sooo mean but had the funniest personality. She made us laugh everyday (except when she was beating us up, then we were just mad and bruised).
