21 Years of Marriage and He is Still HOT for Me!

When I was in college, I received financial aid. When one receives financial aid, one
has to take classes FULL TIME....at least that was what I had to do.
Anyone who has ever taken college courses knows how quickly classes can
fill up when you are an under class man.
This particular semester I needed one more class to fill the requirement.
There were NO CLASSES I needed for my degree.
So, I did the next logical thing.....I whipped out the course catalog and started
skimming for a class that met Tuesday and Thursday at NOON.
The ONLY class I found that was on a level I could get into and was actually NOT FULL was
MARRIAGE.
Woohoo! I thought, "HOW EASY IS THIS GOING TO BE."
I'm already married....(1 year)....so, I would prance into that
class and be the student who "helped" all the other poor pitiful
SINGLE students UNDERSTAND marriage!
EASY "A"!!!
Well, to make a long story short....I went into the final w/ a "D".....yes, you read that right....
A BIG FAT "D"!!!
During my college career, I made TWO "C's" and all
the rest of my grades were "A's" and "B's".......I even made the
PRESIDENT's HONOR ROLL.....I'm not as think as you dumb I am!
I made a "C" in marriage!!!
I thought that meant I was a total FAILURE.....not fit to be a wife....
I couldn't be married if I couldn't pass a MARRIAGE class!
I was sick about that for WEEKS!
(Just to let you know, the other "C" was a science class where the professor, who was later fired, QUOTED speakers and put it on the test w/ FILL IN THE MISSING WORD BLANKS....HELLO....for an entire semester, we were supposed to remember EXACTLY what a speaker said?)
Well, all I have to say to that Marriage professor....who was probably DIVORCED and didn't tell us.....is NEENER, NEENER....I am still very happily married!
I am still very much in love!
I even ignore the little mistakes he makes when he writes....I honestly read it
exactly as it SHOULD have been written....it was our
daughter who pointed it out....you know the one....the PICKY one.
Well, after she has made it 21 years with the same guy, I'm sure she'll
understand how beautiful a simple letter in a card truly is.

Reason #432 Why I Can't Have the Perfect Porch

Do you remember the FAR OFF PICTURE that was taken of Rascal with my rocking chair pillow?

He has now decided that it is safe to bring the pillow to my back door
and flaunt it in front of me......

I swear he is even sticking out his tongue saying....neener, neener....I WON!!!

Yes, he is chanting it as he turns circles.....like it is going to make
the SQUARE pillow ROUND!!!

No, why would he settle for the soft HAY in the barn.....
why would he settle for the fluffy grass.....

When he can have a PILLOW!!!
A pillow from MY FRONT PORCH rocking chair!

Yeah, don't let the innocent face fool you....
I listen to him every night trying to scare off the coyotes who
come so dangerously close to our house....
The howling EVERY NIGHT!!!
Threatening the coyotes.....

Yeah.....I wonder what the coyotes would do if they found out
the scary beast had a "woobie".
Maybe Rascal is defending his "woobie".....maybe he
thinks the coyotes will steal his "woobie".

Happy Valentine's Day...I'm making MINE SWEET!

Yummy sugar cookies....I used Farm Chick's RECIPE.
They were AWESOME!!!
The rolling pin is my grandmother's....she would have
been turning 96 this year! Unfortunately, she passed away
in 1999.
I love being able to still have her near and dear to my
heart when I get to use items that she used herself.
I used the HEART cookie cutter....duh!
I didn't use the biggest one I had either....and these things
come out as big as my hand!

The house is smelling good now......

I added just a touch of lemon to the frosting to give
it a kick. I did NOT get to use the Farm Chick's frosting
recipe because I was too lazy to drag out the Kitchen Aid
again to whip the butter....I know, hanging my head in shame.
If you haven't used the professional coloring for frosting....and
are still using the squeeze bottle kind....STOP and go get
the professional coloring....it has such a bright color and
your hand doesn't cramp up trying to squirt 1,345,000 drops
to get the red to look RED.
It is a paste and a dab'll do it!!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Now, I'm going to go get all dressed up and let my hubs take
me on a very romantic and costly date....because he loves
me like that.
Hmmmm, to wear hair straight or do the vintage curl.....
to wear a dress or be a little more casual.....
to wear my sexy....oh, oops, am I still online?

Vintage Thingie Thursday

This vintage prom dress hangs on my bedroom door...I'm trying to find a better
hanging system....more vintage look.
I was at a local thrift store, Golden Rule, when
I spotted this beauty.
It even had the former owner's name on it!
There was no price on it, but I knew what these
things go for on internet....NOT CHEAP.
I orginally got this dress for my SEWING DUMMY....
But, since my SEWING DUMMY is more a
PLUS SIZE POLLY....this dainty little dress
didn't fit.
So, there she is in all her glory on the door.....
(If you haven't seen my SEWING DUMMY, you
can CLICK HERE to see what I do with
my SEWING DUMMY.)

It was way in the back of the store, like it had just
been brought in by owner.
So, I wandered around mulling it over....just thinking
it would be beyond my budget of $10.00.

I'm dating this dress in the 50's early 60's.

Well, I'm sure you want to know the price.....I'm sure you
know that it was UNDER the budget or I wouldn't be
sharing it with you today!
I paid a whole $6.00!!!

Do People Actually Use Show Sticks When They Show LAMBS?

Show stick? I think that is really broom handle!
The guy in yellow is Dale G., and he raises
show lambs. Unfortunately, I didn't get
a picture of WHY he had a halter on that
lamb.
For some reason, he expects his children to be
able to show a lamb with NO HALTER and certainly NO SHOW STICK.
Now, when it was Dale's turn to show, he just couldn't keep
the little bugger from escaping and trying to head
for the nearby park.
SO, he ended up using a halter....and since there is a halter,
there MUST BE A SHOW STICK SOMEWHERE....
it is sort of like the book, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie".

This part of the show was all in fun to raise funds.
Grown men and women got to strut their stuff in
the showring because someone PAID to get them
in there. If they opted out, they would have to
PAY to get out of showing.....
well, we all know Aggies are TIGHTWADS...so,
there was a full ring.
I did notice that my hubby conveniently had to
check that the trashes and empty them during this part of the show.
Hmmmmmm, I think he was AFRAID of the little lambs.......
Also, I want to make a note to Carol, wife of Dale, I'm mad at you for not
coming..........
You'd better have a good reason to not travel to our town to visit us!!!

We've Been Invaded!!!!

As you know, we have a pasture behind our house....it is SUPPOSED to
be a wheat field this time of year.....'cept it's not.
I was "informed" by my father-in-law that we did NOT
plant wheat this year. So, I guess I misinformed ya'll.
Right now, it is serving as a NESTING ground.....
for these lovely creatures....no, not shrews....they
are on my patio silly!!

I wonder if they will keep the cow away.....she might just sling her chain at them.
Scroll down some more posts to find out what cow I'm talking about.

I ♥ Faces

Make sure you click the button above and check out all the entries!!
This is a mother/daughter pic I took recently.
Could that mother ever deny being the mother?
NO WAY.....THE EYES HAVE IT!
Also, the nose, the mouth....the hair....

My Name is Traci, and I'm a Cinnamon Roll Virgin

Well, with a title like that, it should certainly make you look...huh.
I'm afraid of YEAST! Yeast is NOT my friend.
I WANT it to be my friend.
IT does NOT want to MY friend.

So, when I recently became the proud owner of a handmedown bread maker,
I decided I'm going to MAKE yeast like me!
Of course, I was going to start out with the basic bread loaf.
Then, I (after googling it and finding it to download because there wasn't one with it)
read the owner's manual, I was more intrigued with
CINNAMON ROLLS.
I got all the ingredients together and let the little bread machine do the work
on the dough.
I read the instructions and formed beautiful cinnamon rolls.
I even BRAVED putting them in the refrigerator OVERNIGHT BEFORE COOKING!
Here they are......yes, they tasted good!
Now trust me when I tell you I fully expected them to be
hard as hockey pucks.
THEY WEREN'T!

They were actually GOOD.....I'm sure a cinnamon roll PRO
could do much better....but hey, I think YEAST is beginning
to warm up to me!!!!
I need to make more glaze next time......

Thanks to the Dollar Tree for Helping Me Make Valentines for Veterans!

Yep, I did it again this year....had to make PRACTICAL Valentines for our Veterans.
No, I didn't HAVE to be PRACTICAL....I just couldn't buy
a box of valentines and just sign my name on the back.
I want them to be able to use them....make them functionable (is that a word?).
You can get 4 mini-composition notebooks for $1.00.
Sheets of stickers for $1.00 each.
Each notebook is already decorated with a bright cover.
I added a sweet message on the first page.
20 books for about .50 each.
I tried to find some thin ribbon to add for a bookmark...sort of like the kind
in a Bible....no luck.

You still have time to make some.
Click HERE to find out how you can participate in Valentines for Vets!!!
I want to thank REGAN and TIFFANI for doing such a wonderful
job decorating them.
You can do a search at the top of my blog for VALENTINES to see what I made last year.
