One skeleton head from Wal-mart.
One thrifted bridal veil that I tea-stained.

Autumn Goodness is Upon Us.....

Yep, if you remotely like apples you MUST try this recipe!!! I is a http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/ recipe....she even has a wonderful tutorial on making it. It will only take once and you will know how to make it from memory....I PROMISE! They are called Apple Dumplings......ah, makes me think of the old movie, The Apple Dumplin' Gang......does anyone remember that movie?
RECIPE:
2 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 8 pieces
2 cans of crescent rolls
1 small can of sprite (the recipe called for Mt. Dew...I think that it might be too sweet)
2 sticks of butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 tsp. vanilla....preferably Mexican vanilla...I think it makes a difference
cinnamon
Melt butter in saucepan
add the sugar
add the vanilla
DON'T STIR TOO MUCH....it should be grainy
Spray cake pan w/ PAM or something like it....or spread some butter on it...the bottom, that is.
While that is melting, do the apples
Take one crescent TRIANGLE and roll a slice of apple in it.
Repeat until all 16 slices are used.
Lay them all pretty like in the cake pan.
Pour the melted butter goodness over the entire apple/crescent things.
Open the can of Sprite and pour it AROUND THE OUTER EDGE of the dumplings.
(This is to keep the butter goodness from washing off the top)
Sprinkle some cinnamon on the top of the dumplings...use as much or little as you see fit.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes.
Serve while warm w/ a side scoop of vanilla ice cream.....you might want to sit down after taking a bite....your legs might just give out when you taste this thing.....
Let me know if you've had it or plan to make it.....what'd you think?

Meet My MYSTERY Guest.....

This is the beginning of my WALL/HALL of Fame.
I'm going to do one of each member of my family if I can ever think if it when I have my camera.
It is quite easy to accomplish this beautiful display.
1. Take a profile picture of your model on a digital camera.
2. Put the picture on your computer and print it out. You do NOT need to use photo paper...just plain copy paper.
3. Color in the design with a black marker.
4. Use a copy machine to increase the size of the picture to what you desire. (my picture in in an 8 x 10 area)
5. Carefully cut out the picture.
6. Trace the silhouette onto black paper ON THE WRONG SIDE...this will keep the PENCIL marks from showing up after you cut it out.
7. Find a pretty scrapbook paper to use as the background. It is my intention to change out the background with the holidays, seasons, etc.
8. Put picture in a pretty frame. I got this frame at Wal-mart for $5.00. I orginally thought that I would spray paint it black, but decided to leave it for the meantime.

I'm going to have 5 of them going down my hallway...won't that be neat?

Remember that Grand Champion Goat?

The Grand Champion Goat at the county, won Reserve Grand Champion goat at one of the state fairs!

This is Regan with the judge.

This is what we do after we are done showing and waiting until we can take the animals home....we wait.......we wait some more.....
Even the animals get tired of waiting and look just as bored.....

We had to hang around for the sale....this is what we used to "lure" a buyer for her goat.....HALLOWEEN CANDY!!!

This is a random picture of JUST KIDDIN FARMS owners, Bryan and Amanda Beshear. Make sure you go check out their prize winning goats and also their adorable daughter, Paisley....isn't that the most precious name? Yep, that is Bryan in a PINK shirt....if you click on the picture, you can read it.

This is Regan with her buyers at the auction....Fowler Cattle and Showin Kidds Goat Camp....yep, the candy worked. She got $10 a pound for her goat. Did I mention that this is the first year for the goats to be allowed to show at this fair. Only TWO goats made the sale......Regan was the 2nd goat!!!

Proud mama and goat.....SAY CHEESE!!!!

When Should You Call the Police?

When your DAUGHTER discovers a DEAD BODY!!!
Yep, you read it right....my YOUNGEST daughter discovered a body in the hotel we were staying at while attending the fair! Before I tell you the story, NO, she is not traumatized....she was actually mostly curious. Now, I don't know if life on a farm hardens you to the fact of life and death or not....but she clearly was not FREAKED OUT by it.
Ok, on with the story....on Sunday night, we went to a restaurant to eat...of course...took the usual side trip to Wal-Mart to get ME some drugs for the raging sinuses. (Yep, almost every show I get a severe attack of allergies)
After the trip to Wal-Mart, my husband dropped me off at the hotel and then went back to the fairgrounds to check the animals. On his way to the truck, he passed a window with the curtains open, but the sheer curtains were closed....he noticed a guy lying on the floor. He also noted that he was lying on something that HE thought was a GIANT heating pad. So, after looking, he comments that "that guy is either passed out drunk or DEAD"!
Now, fast forward to 6:00 in the morning....they go down to breakfast before heading to the fairgrounds. After eating, my daughter heads back to the room....which means walking right by the SAME window. She noticed him on the floor. Ok, the curiosity got the best of her and she backed up and stared into the window....
She even lowered herself to see UNDER the curtain....to see if the guy was ASLEEP. That is when she noticed he had a stream of blood coming from his mouth and his eyes were slightly open.
THEN SHE SAW THE GUN BESIDE HIM!!!
She couldn't convince her dad to go look...so, she goes to the next logical person....ANOTHER KID! Of course he goes with her....and they both determine that the guy is REALLY DEAD.
Finally, she convinces her dad to have a look....YEP, he was definitely DEAD.
They go to the hotel manager and the rest is history.....
Apparently, he was from a different town and completely planned this. The HEATING PAD was bubble wrap...so he wouldn't make a mess. The design on his SHIRT was really BLOOD...my daughter didn't realize this. He had shot himself in the heart. He must have died pretty instantly because he wasn't in the fetal position and didn't look like he had rolled around in pain.
How do I know this? Because the cops let me in to look....I know, I'm morbid....actually they would have let me take pictures....I'M NOT THAT MORBID.
I prayed for the man and his family. I prayed for the children that found him. I prayed for the police. I also prayed for the VERY DISTRAUGHT housekeeper who would have found him if my daughter hadn't done what she did.
So, the moral of the story is.....
....if you are on the ground dying, you'd better hope my dear hubby doesn't walk by you!!!
