Some CRAFTY Christmas Decorating.....

I got the vintage screen door at a garage sale for $5.00!
The white board to the right is for homeschooling purposes....just being real, can't have it looking all pretty with no practical....lol.
I inherited the vintage baubles and made them into a wreath last year.
I entered it into the county fair and got 3rd...I thought it got a bad ribbon...because 3rd place is WHITE...this was pink or yellow...it wasn't white!

They aren't ALL vintage baubles....didn't have enough.

I saw this idea on another blog....yep, those are the Dollar Tree boxes....
Total cost = $3.00 only because they came in 3 different packages...but there are
also 3 other boxes you do NOT see here. So, really it was $1.50.
I still have to do some tweaking w/ this wall.....

I made this FUR wreath last year....found the vintage tiny birds for $.50!
This is a pretty version of the movie THE BIRDS....lol.

I got the frame for $1.00 at a garage sale...used chalkboard paint and chalk ink to make the sign.

I got the vintage tree last year after Christmas....$8.00.
I THINK it might be to hold Christmas cards, but they don't look right on it....
soooooo....I got out the white garland....and started wrapping.

Here is it finished with just the garland.....

I added TWINKLE lights...vintage of course. I also call them fairy lights because they have the little flowers on them. Unfortunately, they don't flash at the same time....they do it in SECTIONS....there is no method to the madness...I refused to take them off this year...but will certainly do different lights next year.
I added vintage baubles that I've acquired from garage/estate sales over the summer.

Here is the final display....until I decide to change something....I might add a vintage tablecloth....
Ignore the shutters to the sides....those aren't supposed to be there.

The Fairies are Ready for Fall!

Well, the fairies were busy last night.....

They beat me getting ready for fall....

Pumpkin lights and a BLACK wreath!

A basket of pumpkins.....

Oh look, they even have gold glitter added to the black wreath....how creepy.

What a bright "fallish" doormat!

Yep, they beat me to it....I still haven't got out my fall decorations.
I guess the fairies are trying to tell me to get busy, huh?

If a Fairy had a Kitchen, What Would it Look Like?

For those who have fairy doors, don't you just ever imagine what would be behind the door?
I decided to make up a fairy kitchen that will eventually ACTUALLY be behind a fairy door in my home.

Oh look! This fairy must have been scared off in the middle of cooking!
There are TWO glasses....possibly TWO fairies?
Wouldn't it be appropriate for a fairy to have BUTTERFLIES?
I picture this fairy as liking flowers as much as butterflies.
Is that toast in the toaster?
I wonder what is cooking on the stove?
Too bad I can't see into the cookbook that is on the table....
This box will be hidden inside a kitchen cabinet....and a hole will be cut into the bar side of the cabinet for the fairy window.
There will also be a door...that won't open because little hands can destroy a fairy room in less than 30 seconds....or even might choke on something. So, we will just leave it to their imagination by getting to look into a fairy kitchen and dream impossible dreams!I know this is one of those posts where you say, "Traci, you've got too much time on your hands!" I wanted to get this done and it only took about 2 -3 hours total time to make....minus the door. Once the thing is in place....I won't have to do anything else 'cept watch little ones' eyes light up and start telling fairy stories.....see? To me, it is a small price to pay to see imagination take flight!
Plus, I don't really care what you think of how I choose to spend my time...ba haaaaa. I am having fun and I only have one life to live...might as well live it loud and IN COLOR!!!

Fairy Love!!

I've had many inquiries about my fairy doors, so I am doing
this post so I can refer people to it.
I was inpired by the simpleness of the fairy door.
I believe children need a creative outlet and I think the fairy door
is one way to enhance that creativity and imagination found
in children.

Just imgaine your child's delight when she loses a tooth and puts it into the
special basket on the Fairy's stoop....and awakes to find FOREIGN
coins in the basket!
We all know that the Tooth Fairy travels the world and sometimes
she doesn't have US currency...and of course our banks are closed
when she makes her appearance...so she leaves what she has!
Imagine your child waking and finding a tiny gift on the stoop....left by a fairy!
Imagine them waking and finding the fairies came and decorated the door
for the holidays!

Did You Know the Fairies Decorate for Christmas?

While we were busy decorating our house and making wedding bouquets, the little fairies decided they needed to get their house done as well.

I'll just bet there is a nice cozy fire behind that door mingling with the scent of sugar cookies and hot cocoa.

FAIRY DOOR

Yeah, this post is going to have everyone talking....I saw the cutest thing, fairy doors. Apparently in Ann Arbor, MI several businesses have these outside their business. Google fairy doors if you don't believe me. Well, it got me to thinking....wouldn't my FUTURE grandkids ( I don't want my kids to get any ideas) and the youngsters who visit my house just love seeing one? I just had to go right out and make my own....it is still in progress though. I'm going to try to make a landing/stoop for the "fairies". That way they can leave their "shoes" and other stuff outside the door. Also, it can be decorated for the holidays w/ tiny wreaths, lights, etc. I'll post more as the "house" in progress goes......
