15 Minutes (Day 3) Studio/Office FLYLADY TIMER

Well, 2 days of 15 minutes has completely cleared one wall except the shelving...which will be the last to go.
Have you tried the Flylady Timer yet?
Why not? Seriously, just get a timer and do it....I won't tell if you don't have the official Flylady Timer.
I only have one because she came to Tulsa and I was all giddy and all...seriously, any ole timer will do! Although I must tell you that this one VIBRATES if you want to wear it and not HEAR it. I do like that feature.

TA DAH!!! An entire wall completed in 30 minutes.....how many of you were thinking that it would take me days to clear out that mess???
I see my mother's hand waving out there...oh yes I do!!
I know I did!! That is why I put it off so long!

Yep, more of the floor....aaaahhhh, isn't that nice?

I am trucking along....I will only do this during the work week...I have to rest on the weekend....it is FAMILY TIME don't you know!

15 Minutes (Day 2) Office/Studio

This is one small section of the room...I am working my way around the room.
This post is a day late because just as I finished with cleaning, I got a banger of a migraine! I even had to go to the hospital and spend the whole next day nursing my "bruised" brain. So, now I can show you the pictures......
BEFORE

SETTING THE FLYLADY TIMER.....15 MINUTES.
Click the link to read all about The Flylady.

AFTER.....
I was just getting ready to start the top shelf when the timer buzzed....I was very tempted to keep working, but didn't...which worked out because I got the migraine.
Look! You can see the floor!!!
Just a reminder: I am completely clearing out the room....I am not sorting yet, I will sort before it goes back into the room.
Have you started a mission yet?
If you have a blog, post about it.....share it with me and I will try to figure out the Mr. Linky thing.

My 15 Minute Studio/Office (Don't look if you can't handle MESSY)

Seriously...turn your eyes if you can't handle a true mess!
I am just keeping it real here....I've had this burden for 3 years now...what do I want to do to our office/studio?
So, instead of planning it out, I just kept piling more stuff in it....
Oh the shame.....
WELCOME TO OUR GIANT JUNK DRAWER!
Look! You can barely see the floor!
I am what is referred to as a piler and not a filer.
When I do file, I forget what heading I filed it under.
(Yes! That is A Christmas Story Leg Lamp!)
This is the "desk".
I have been on the lookout for a vintage wooden door to make into a desk....
well, that never happened for the price I wanted.
Instead, I got a vintage formica table that will look amazing as a desk...
I can't even get it into the room...ha. Thus, time to do some serious
cleaning.

I am a faithful follower of THE FLYLADY.
She says we can do anything in 15 minute slots.
I love my FLYLADY timer and use it often...but completely
ignored it when it came to this room.
I can IGNORE no longer.....

I must do something NOW!
I will try to do daily posts on the progress of this room.
I am going to completely empty it 15 minutes at a time.
I am going to also paint it...the tan walls just aren't going with my "vision"
for this room......
Do you have a junk "drawer"?
Do you want to join me?
PUHLEASE JOIN ME.....PUHRETTY PLEASE???

Vintage Bicycle Built for Two!!

My blog was quiet last week because I took some time out to go to Dayspring 2010 with some of our church youth. Dayspring is not your regular church camp....no popsicle stick crafts, no old church hymns...this is a cutting edge very intentional camp for youth (and adult leaders) who want to give it all to God.
This is my 5th year attending and this time, I didn't even have one of my own children going...that is how much I value this camp!

Dayspring has been held at the same campground for years....
This year, they made the decision that Dayspring had to move to accommodate the growth. I was not sure I was ready for the change.....
1. It wasn't going to be the same.
2. I had to drive further.
3. It was more expensive.
4. I was comfortable.
Shortly after entering the camp....believe me, Satan was having a field day trying to throw as many obstacles in our paths to keep us from going....I discovered this gem just setting propped up against a fence......

It was a good thing I was all alone in my car because I just might have possibly SQUEALED. Just look at this thing....and it was on a RANCH...A RANCH....
It looked so lonely....
I had to go visit this lonely bike.
I took its picture....I'm sure it hasn't had this much attention in YEARS!
After that, I was cool with camp...yep, I relaxed and had a beautiful week.
The camp ended up being pretty amazing.
We had a blessed week and God worked His miracles like no other.
The theme for the week was The Journey.
Matthew 7:13-14

13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
The bike symbolizes that I must make sure to share MY JOURNEY with a friend....GOD! He is in the lead....I shall peddle along on the back and enjoy THE JOURNEY! With God in the lead, I can find the narrow gate.

Do They Ever REALLY Grow Up?

I think NOT!

Yep, every year for the past several years, this middle child of mine has had to celebrate her birthday along with 200 other children because her
birthday falls during Vacation Bible School week.
She has never let it bother her...and if it did bother her, she never let it show.

This year is different....

This year, she is all alone.....

This year, she will become a legal adult.....all alone.

This year, she will celebrate at work because she is an independent gal and is working to pay for her college.

This year, she won't even be close enough to get a birthday hug and kiss....

This year, her mom will miss her terribly and will stay awake until midnight just so she can be the first to send her a birthday text.

This year is bitter sweet....my once shy child is now all mature acting....

Well, at least that is what I HEAR from OTHER people.....

I love you Squidnee...thanks for giving of yourself all these years for the glory of God! I know you prefer twisted balloon animals instead of jewels in your crown....so, HERE YOU GO!! ;)
HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY!!!

Are You SICK of Simplicity 2591 Yet??

Link

I'm NOT!!!

I had to get online and look at what others have done with this pattern....I am still in love with this dress.

You should be able to click on any of these pictures and be taken to the sites I found them....

This lady is just amazing....I love following her blog...she is making A DRESS A WEEK!! Right after I made mine, she posted about her Simplicity 2591....I was thrilled to say the least. I just love the fabric. My problem is....white and me do NOT get along very well.... :(

This sweet lady blogged about how many mistakes are in this dress...and is very thankful the pattern disguises it. I think it looks divine on her.

I like the ticking on this fabric....what about that viking hat??
I could see my daughter wearing this complete outfit.

Yep, totally adore the hula girl fabric....SU-WEET!

Yep, liking the stripes as well....very Coney Island, don't you think?

This ticking has tiny red crabs all over it....seersucker fabric. Make sure you look at her shoes!

Yet another version....it just amazes how the fabric makes all the difference in the look of this dress.

SCORE! I Got an Amazing Lampshade....LOOK!

This lampshade was found online for $45.....
It is a 1950s lampshade

This lampshade was found at a local antique/flea market for $2.00!
She didn't even have it where a person could see it.....I had to DIG and find it.
The actual lamp is TOTAL MARBLE BABY....I got it for $16.00 at an antique store.
I actually got TWO of them.

See all the glorious fiberglass??
Isn't she awesome!

Up close and personal.....sigh.....
$2.00....yes, the whole lamp is $18.00!
I think I have developed a lamp fetish.....UH OH!!

Diner Baskets Make ANYTHING Taste Better

I got these at Wal-Mart of all places....wasn't thrilled that they were made in China, but I also have a hard time finding vintage ones that aren't really greasy!
I paid $3.00 for 4 baskets.
They came with paper liners....12, I think.
I bought more liners when I got them clearanced for $1.00.
I wanted more baskets, but they were all gone...sniff, sniff.

I oven fry the fries.....
Pre-Heat oven to 425 degrees.

I have a really cool vintage french fry cutter...It looks like this one I found on etsy.com. Mine has a red handle though.
After slicing the potatoes WITH SKINS ON, I put them in a bowl and drizzle with enough olive oil to coat and then sprinkle whatever dry seasoning I'm in the mood for over the top.
Using my hands, I mix the potatoes, oil and seasoning all up to make sure the fries are coated.
I dump them onto a non-stick cookie sheet in single layer and bake for about 40 minutes.....turning the fries at least two times during cooking.
They come out just as crispy as if they were fried.
Now, go make you some!!!

An Easy Outdoor Game to Make for ALL Ages

This is a bean bag toss game.
I think I saw it on the Family Fun website.
1 cheap tarp. ( I used two...one in the back to knock down the bean bags so we wouldn't have to go swim across the pond to get the ones thrown by future Olympians)
Duct tape. ( used the patriotic theme)
Scissors.
Something to hang the tarps with....bungee cords.
Bean bags, balls, balloons filled with flour, etc.
(I got a package of bean bags at the party supply store)

Mark off the designs with the duct tape....one must do this with someone who doesn't get distracted by a moth that lands on her arm thus making this process of making the game go SOUTH very fast! I shall not mention any names, because she is OLD....like 50.....like just turned it, like....SQUIRREL....yah, just like the dog on the movie, "UP". Terri.
Then, just cut out the INSIDE of the shapes.
Make sure the LARGE shapes have small point values and the SMALL shapes have the LARGE point values.
Make sure you make TWO throwing lines for young children and adults.
Be really careful what types of things you use to throw....
should an "adult" who thinks he can throw REALLY HARD stand
on the KIDDIE line....terrible things happen if someone walks in front
of him....JUST SAYIN'.
I SWEAR, I had NO IDEA he could throw that hard....completely knocked off her upper body.....WOW!!!
Just look at the guilty look on his face!!
Next time Michael....STAND AT THE ADULT LINE TO THROW THE BAGS!!
