15 MINUTES (Day 22, 23, 24, 25, 26) Office/Studio Makeover

I am still making progress....slowly.
1 hour and 15 min. to paint the bottom cabinets.
Now that these are done, I get to go get the upper cabinets and
start all over again.....can I get a YEE HAW???
Painting has definitely been the most time consuming part....but it also has
the most BANG effect.
I plan to have the cabinets done BEFORE the countertop comes in....
yes, I can do it!! 15 minutes at a time!
Do you have any idea on neat drawer/cabinet pulls?

15 MINUTES (Day 19, 20, 21) Office/Studio Makeover

It is all in the details baby......
I love how the small things really are starting to come together!!!

I had to put the drawers in so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....WHEEE, I love the color!!
Oh, also note the 3 new plug-ins on the wall.....there used to be only ONE on this wall and it is
now behind the cabinet.

The corner where my vintage table desk will be is starting to get some PIZAZZ!

I thought these cute canisters would be great storage since they are pretty close to the wonderful color I am using on the cabinets.

This canister was missing it's lid....so, what to do, what to do?

Yah...head on over to the local Cracker Barrel restaurant and get some giant

lollipops!! It is SUGAR...get it???

Here is the beginning of the corner.....

The wonderful starburst clock will eventually be on the wall.

15 MINUTES: (Day 16, 17, 18) Office/Studio Makeover

I got the bottom cabinets!
We just got the pre-made ones at Lowe's to save on time and money!
We didn't have room for the upper cabinets...we will get them soon.
I did find out that our special order counter top....classic laminate is going
to take 3 weeks...sooooo, the painting can take it's time I guess...LOL.
I am painting the cabinets this lovely color....Gentle Wave by Valspar.

Route 66 Tulsa, Oklahoma - A diversion from the Office/Studio Makeover...

Sorry I do not have an office/ studio update for you...I am waiting for the electrician to put in some extra plug-ins on one wall....
Soooo, I decided to show you what we did after going to take Regan for a reading proficiency test. In Oklahoma, before a child can get their driver's permit, they have to prove they can read on an 8th grade reading level.
If your child is in public school, they can just take it at school.
Since our child is homeschooled, we pay and take it at a community college.
I am happy to announce that Regan reads on a COLLEGE LEVEL!!
WOOHOO...GO REGAN!!
After the test, it was lunch and since we were in the area...well, actually nowhere near the area....we decided to make it a history lesson too.
Since we homeschool, we can do things like that....LEARNING NEVER STOPS!!

We headed to the original Route 66 area and ate lunch at Tally's Good Food Cafe.
See that guy?
He is Tally!
Tally is very nice and even offered to take a picture of our group....since we weren't doing too hot of a job by ourselves.

Here is Missy and Shelby....Shelby proved she can read too!!
Missy looks all relaxed here....but let me tell you this woman needs to get to Tulsa more often....or ride with me more often.....she stresses too much while in the car...or should I say RIDING in the car WITH ME!!!
You can't see it...but, if you look carefully at her right hand...I'll bet there is a door handle clutched in it....yah!

Just call me Traci Three Chins....ewww....I am only putting this on here because Missy is going to be calling me to say that she can't believe I actually put that pitiful picture of her on my blog.....which, it is NOT a pitiful picture!!!

Tally took this picture for us....I just thought he was some random guy that came out of the bathroom.
All I am thinking in this picture is....Did this guy wash his hands? I might have to sterilize my camera after this!

Oops, I almost forgot to get a picture of our FOOD!
I had the Monte Cristo...sue me if I didn't spell it right.
I didn't even see it on the menu....I just saw the people next to me getting one and it looks AWESOME!!
It was AWESOME...which you can tell since most of it is GONE!

Regan had the 4-Way chili!!!

Shelby had the chicken fried steak!
Missy had a cheeseburger but the skinny minny had it all gone before I could get a picture!
Why? Why? Why? Can skinny people eat like that and and not gain a pound?

Here are Kelsie and Erin.
Kelsie and Erin are from Connecticut.
There are in Tulsa for a horse show and doing quite well at it!
Of course I have to apologize to Kelsie and Erin because they picked the hottest time to come to Oklahoma...we were in a major heat wave.
They were very ready to get back to their COOLER state!
They even said they were tired of SOUTHERN COOKING!
You are forgiven Kelsie and Erin... :)
I hope you have a safe trip back home and thanks for letting me make you all famous and put you on my BLOG....'cause you know I am famous, right?
Look! Mr. Tally gave us one of his famous cinnamon rolls!!
That thing was the size of a small CAKE!! That is a BIG takeout container...big enough for a complete dinner!
Also, at this point, I need to thank Missy for buying our LUNCH!!!
You are sooooo sweet and I am sooo glad we are friends!!

15 MINUTES (Day 13, 14, 15) Office/Studio FLYLADY MAKEOVER

YAY!! Walls are painted......I am sighing a very BIG relief here!
Since staring at white walls is pretty boring, I thought I would show you the light switch plate I mod podged...
My dear sweet hubby had to trim it because the door trim ran into the plate....when he did...he had the bright idea of using a table saw to trim it....
well, after it shot it completely over the top of the old house...he
found out he cut it too short.
So, for almost 3 years, I've stared at a light switch plate that had a big gap in it.
Instead of getting a new one and worrying about if it would be shot over the top of
the barn, I just fixed it by adding extra paper to the edge to make it
look bigger.
IT WORKED!!
It is just about the only color in the office/studio right now.....
I am hoping to get the cabinets painted this weekend....gah...MORE PAINT???
I sure hope spray paint gadgets are cheap...... :)
In case this is your first time here, I will fill you in...
If you scroll down, you will see that I am doing an office/studio makover in 15 minutes a day. With the exception of painting, I am only working Monday thru Friday....just 15 minutes a day. I am a fan of The Flylady cleaning routine. Her link is on my right sidebar.
Thanks for stopping by and feel free to stay and roam the rest of the blog if you choose!!!

15 Minutes (Day 7-12) Studio/Office Makeover

Soooo, painting has not been as easy and carefree as it was supposed to have been...OH WELL, I'm going with it.
1. I had NO idea that paint when unopened EXPIRES.
2. I also did NOT know that one should not store unopened paint in the ATTIC.
3. I did NOT have the exact measurement of the paint mixture which resulted in the paint not matching my trim. I wanted a country white and got more of a bright white.
4. Current problem: Should I take the 2nd gallon of paint and have them add a little more COUNTRY white to it or just keep it this white....HELP???

It doesn't show up as well in the pictures....and it really isn't THAT noticeable.
It sure has made my ceilings look a lot higher.....
It took 1 1/2 hours to paint what I did, which means it would have been 6 days doing only 15 minutes at a time. That is why I put Days 7-12 on the heading.
Hopefully, I should finish the other coat of paint in the next few days....
Total Time = 3 hours of time. (Not including running amok trying to find new paint)

A Break from the Office/Studio Makeover...

Since I can't paint today due to a very busy schedule, I thought I would share some pics from the local car show here in June.
I would ride this motorcycle in a heart beat!!
I have been considering buying a classic car for an everyday car...does anyone know if they can be driven every day?

My mechanic swears it would be cheaper than my VW wagon I have now.....

I would HAVE to have and a/c...that is just not an option in humid OKLAHOMA.

So, I figured if they let this truck in the show.....

They would have to let any car in the show.....

I asked the guy what category he was in....he said, "junk". LOL

Yes! That is a BIRD on the motor....and when he shuts the hood, there is a hole that lets the little bird maintain his spot on the engine.
Who am I kidding....there isn't even a hood.

Look! That is my VW! Isn't it PURTY?
Look! That is my DH! Isn't he SWEET?

WHAT???
What is that???
Is that a ribbon on my VW?
I feel so.....'pecial!!
No, I didn't win a ribbon in the car show.
I was just parked by them, and decided to put the ribbon on there and make people look twice...LOL. You can't really tell in the picture...but it is caked in dirt and dust....which is REALLY funny at a car show!
I hope you have a beautiful Thursday....I am going to spend some time with some great women at Bible Study.

15 Minutes (Day 6) Studio/Office FLYLADY WORKS

Well, I do believe that the 15 minutes has done wonders for me!
I am now going to head out and get the painting stuff so I can get started on that on Friday.
I feel soooo free....

Goodbye dumb shelves.....

Goodbye tan walls.....

Goodbye cheap plastic desk and bar stool.....

Now I get to MOVE FORWARD....
I will do the painting as much as possible but count it in 15 minute increments so I can see how many "days" it would have taken me to complete. I hope to have a painted room to show you on Monday!
How come nobody is joining in with the 15 minutes and sharing what they are doing???

15 Minutes (Day 5) Studio/Office Ready to PAINT!

Wow! I am at the point where I am beginning to see the light at the end of the clutter tunnel! I knew from the past 45 minutes, that I would be able to conquer this entire wall in 15 minutes.
I will have to leave my desk in place because of the computer hook up.
I should be ready to paint after tomorrow!

TAH DAH!!!
Here are a few of the things I've collected to decorate this space with....
My vision is very "kitschy". I have 2 of the shelves....only one has been painted and stressed. The shelves have 5 coffee cup hooks on them....I will hang clipboards from them to use like a bulletin board. The metal trays will be magnet boards and done in a collage.
I've saved pop bottle lids to make magnets with.
I originally bought this old scrabble board to mod podge onto an old card table.
Now, I am not sure what I want to do with it....any ideas?
I love ME stuff....I love her use of color. I got this at a flea market for $7.00.
Here is another metal tray.
Love Love Love the vintage bed sheet I am using for the curtain....see all the colors? Yep, I am a color freak....never been afraid of using color.
If I like it, I use it....so, my tastes don't always work for everyone....OH WELL!

I love felt pennants too!!!
Thanks for stopping by to see my progress!
Please continue to come back and see how long it actually takes to whip this office/studio into shape!
