Finally Painted the Pantry Screen Door

Click the Button to find other great DIY projects!
Thanks Kimba for hosting this!

This is what I've stared at for almost 2 years!

I know you can't see it in the picture, but the bottom part of the screen lasted

about ONE WEEK before a child that shall remain nameless stuck her foot through it because she didn't want it slamming shut while

she was in the pantry!

Also, the fact that it needed to be painted has driven

me to nutdom!

It took 2 years because I kept wavering about the color....

I went from chocolate brown to white to black to

finally RED!

Wow! Just looking at the pantry in this pictures and then scrolling back up to 2 years ago....shows how much CLUTTER there is in that pantry....

I guess I need to do an INSIDE the pantry BEFORE AND AFTER.

I got lucky at Lowe's and got the door hardware for $.75!! Yes, just 3 QUARTERS!

I bought TWO...because of course it was such a great deal and I know

I still want a screen door on my garage/laundry room door.

I got the pretty little scroll pieces at Hobby Lobby...2/$1
Also, note the NEW SCREEN...who knew that it could be THAT easy to replace!
(Note to kids: Don't get any ideas about sticking another foot through it....if you do, you might as well pack your bags and hit the road!)

You might also notice the little barns to the left...they got a makeover also. I still haven't decided if I like them enough to keep them there or not.

I still need to do something about the light switch cover though.

I love works in progress!!!

The door looks really good with my red glittery vintage dining chairs!!!
WE DID IT OURSELVES!!!

Classic Car with Classic People

While filling up the diesel sucking pick-up at the gas station, we got to oogle this
classic Mustang filling up beside us. Not a scratch or dent to be seen.
Yep, it is APPLE green!

Yep! They are probably in their 70's!
I wonder if they are the only owners of this car....
I wonder if it was a mid-life crisis car......
I wonder where they are going on this fine Saturday night.....

I wonder how many years they've been married....
I do know one thing....
You can't go wrong driving an apple green classic Mustang no matta your age!
Bye-bye, sweet cute couple in the classic apple green Mustang...if I ever see you
again, I won't sneak pictures of you as you are driving off.....I will be BOLD and ask you all I can about that fine classic apple green Mustang!

Another Way to Serve Lemonade....

Recycle glass soda pop bottles....

I got the corks at Lowe's...they didn't even know they had them, so make sure you ask where the rubber stoppers are and the corks are right w/ them.
They were in a drawer.

This is my original lemonade.....

This is STRAWBERRY LEMONADE!
I used strawberry shortcake strawberries...just added about 2 TBS. to each jar.
I wash the bottles in the dishwasher...do the same with the corks.
There is a great little shop in Tulsa called IDA RED (CLICK).
They sell the soda pop w/ pure cane sugar. Stop on in there and try some soda and save your bottles.
Nothing tastes quite like a soda pop in a glass bottle.
I want to thank the FARM CHICKS for the recycled bottle idea.

Quite Possibly the Two Hardest People to Photograph....

Meet Brownie and Bobby!
We got married in the same year...just about 3 months apart.

They are our childhood friends.
As you will see, ONE of them is still a "child".

In this pic, Bobby wouldn't smile and it is a beautiful one of Brownie.

In this one, Brownie has the sneaky feeling that Bobby is NOT participating like he should.....

In this one, she DISCOVERED the he is not participating like he should....

In this one, just as he is trying to participate, she decides to whack him in the chest....

Both are NOT PARTICIPATING at this point....

Great one of Bobby....not so great of Brownie!

This one he really looked quite bizarre...but once I put it in black and white and softened it....it looked pretty good. Brownie was moving and was fuzzy, so had to cut her out of it.
Just about the time I thought we were really getting somewhere.....

THIS HAPPENED! I will leave it up to your imagination as to what REALLY happened to get THIS response....

I was about to give up at this point.....until.....
I managed to get this ONE and ONLY decent shot of the wonderful couple.
Thanks Brownie and Bobby for being such great friends through all the years.
It is so hard to believe that we have shared marital bliss for 22 years!!

Reason #29 Why One Does NOT Put Deviled Eggs in a Cooler With Wheels

No matter how cute and creative Tupperware is with their Deviled Egg Carrier.....
It cannot withstand the almighty power of the manly man who is

in control of an ice chest with wheels! The person you see has been disguised to protect his masculinity....
even tho he KNOWS the womanly woman spent a lot more time
making the deviled eggs than the 1.2 seconds he took to DESTROY them!
Happy 22nd Anniversary My MANLY MAN!!!
August 1, 1987
He has been my main squeeze since I was a wee 15 year old! Young love CAN last!!!

Squash Patties W/ PICTURES (oohhhh, aaahhhhh)

This is a recipe I got from my cousin, KELLY! Kelly is a child of Martha Stuart's TEACHER....lol.
I will probably never, ever, never, not gonna do it, no way, no how make dipped and fried squash again....takes way too long.
This recipe is sooooo much easier!

3 cups of GRATED squash...I used 3 small squashes. (is that a word?)
I peeled them.....

Yes! Thank goodness my mother is an INFOMERCIAL JUNKIE!
This is actually my 2nd Ultimate Chopper....I wore out the first one...
then stole borrowed mom's because she never cooks...which means, she never used it!
THANKS MOM!!!

I chunked up the squash.

...barely, I mean BARELY touched the little red button...
If you do it any longer, you will have BABY FOOD.
If you do NOT have an Ultimate Chopper, I will mourn FOR you.
I guess you could use the pre-historic GRATER.
2/3 cup of baking mix...aka...bisquick...but I am too cheap
and I like Aldi's brands.

1/2 cup of cheese...or more if you like.
I like cheese!

1/3 cup of chopped onion....I used 1/2 cup...we like onions also.
This is a FRESH onion that I got at the local Farmer's Market.

One egg...and of course this is a FARM FRESH EGG...straight
from the little chickens in the yard.

Mix all the ingredients.
Have some oil heating up on the stove.

When the oil is HOT.
Drop by spoonfuls into the grease and flatten.
When browned on one side...very carefully turn them over and brown
the other side.
Browning, browning...browning...
I guess right about here is where I mention that I am NOT skinny....
I know, I'm sure you already figured that out...
I made about 21 precious little squash patties!
Sprinkle w/ salt.
My husband like them w/ ranch dressing...
I haven't found anything that isn't good w/ ranch dressing, have you?
