1940's Aprons

Oh she has the cutest aprons!!! I like the full aprons because I tend to get stuff all over when I'm cooking.....I've just had a hard time finding ones that will work with my body...if you know what I mean. Happy Father's Day

I want to wish my wonder husband a super Father's Day!!!

We managed to pull off a surprise. Regan and I searched and searched for just the right gas grill.....with no luck. I despise buying stuff at Wal-Mart.....I feel like I didn't put in the effort for the gift. I know, what am I to expect in a small town? Well, anyhow I had to run in for something and decided, what the heck, I've got nothing to lose......and guess what? There was the one I liked in my price range and didn't feel like I had to worry whether it would be blown away in a storm or not.

I quickly paid for it and told them I would return the next day to pick it up since it wouldn't fit in my Volkswagon. So, now to figure out how to get hubby to drive the pick up to church....what with it being a diesel and the gas prices. As luck has it, it was stormy this a.m. and I used the good ol' "Let's take the truck in case it hails" routine. It worked like a charm! I secretly laid out some steaks before we left. Well, he decided he wanted to go out to eat after church so we drove to Muskogee.....and ate....now are you ready for this?......we ate at Golden Corral......sheesh, he's easy to please, what can I say?

After lunch, of course we had to make the proverbial stop at Wal-Mart...... ;) He went milling around and I had them pull the grill to the outside gate by the garden center. As we were driving off, I asked him to pull up by the patio furniture to see if "this set" was heavy enough for our patio which gets a lot of wind. We pull up and I'm pointing inside the fenced area.....where there is NO FURNITURE...and saying, "that set, do you see it, will it look good on our patio?"

He kept saying that he didn't see a set.....just a charcoal grill.....and that is when we let him in on the secret.......it was AWESOME!! Yeah, he thinks it will look good on our patio....lol.

Also, Carly and the rest of the family made it back safely from Hawaii!!! Yippee!! They had a wonderful time and now Carly is ready to go to work on a cruise ship.

I love you David, for the father that you are the husband that you've been and the friend that you continue to be......you are my knight in shining armor! I thank God daily for blessing me with you. Kiss Kiss!!!

Weight Loss

Ok, I've decided that maybe if I go public with my weight then maybe I'll be more motivated to lose it. I am disgusted with my weight gain and nothing seems to work for me right now. So, each wednesday, I'm going to weigh-in and post my loss or gain. Hopefully, I'll add pictures too. I'm not so much worried about what the scale says as I am about what size I am. I would love to see a size 10 again. I hope you will join me on my journey or at least support me.

What I'm Reading Now....

I got this book while at the Homeschool Convention last month. It is an easy read. They have a great website as well. http://www.therebelution.com/ Twin brothers decided to go against the low expectation norm set for most teens and do hard things. To be honest, I bought the book thinking my daughters would read it just because the boys are cute....well, I don't care if they think they are cute or not, it is going to be mandatory reading. I think all youth groups should read this as well. The authors' older brother, Josh Harris, wrote the book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye.

Isn't it true that the most people expect of teens is to clean their room, not wreck the car and make good grades? They even have the Muskogee Mayor on their website...an extraordinary teen.

We Survived the Reception

It is strange how there were deadly tornadoes the day of her graduation and now, the day of her reception, there were severe storms all around. I prayed early that the Lord would hold them off until after the reception and PRAISE HIM, He did. We had a wonderful turn out despite the weather.

Here is Carly and her beautiful cake. Once again, Muskogee Cake Co. did an amazing job. I tried to get Carly to wear her pink prom dress but she wouldn't....wouldn't it have looked great with all the pink and yellow? I know my little vintage strawberry candy dish would come in handy....I found the handle at the Goodwill store....I had to buy another candy dish, but Regan is using it and doesn't mind that it doesn't have a handle.
This is her display...notice the pink prom dress with the graduation gown.....at least we got to put it on display. We ran her senior pics on the tv as a slide show. Also, we had a powerpoint presentation running at the table where everyone signed a picture mat for Carly.
I had to put this picture in because it shows off my spoons on the kitchen cabinets. I finally got them on just a few days ago. Thank you to Bobby Peters for helping my wonderful husband get the nagging job done. I can't count how many fingernails I've broken trying to get the doors open. The lights were supposed to hang outside on the porch, but due to weather, I moved them to this spot.....they looked amazing.

This is my daughter, Sydni and a friend, Cooper.....don't they make a super pair? He is the best baby.

I'm putting this picture in to show the beautiful flowers my friend, Kim, made for my grandparents grave....there are really two arrangements, I just got this in a picture. She delivered them to my mom, that is why they are at my house and ended up in a picture. I guess I'll mention the guys.....the one in the plaid is my dear husband, David. He has been one super dad to Carly and will miss her dearly when she "leaves".

Don't Forget Those Who Served

While we are having a barbeque, boating and enjoying our freedoms....please make sure you say a pray for all who have and ever will serve to protect us. Just Ramblin'

Well, another night of not sleeping all night....it is currently 5:00 a.m. and I have been up for an hour. I decided to go ahead and condition my hair since I have so much time on my hands.

We were going to go camping this week, but found out that we have a leak under a bedroom window in the camper and has made a moldy weak spot in the floor. My allergies are too severe to try to stay cooped up in a camper for several days. Sooooo, we are going to just flitter back and forth visiting the family out there.

Summer is in full swing around here.....camps are just around the corner. Regan is very excited to get to go to a church camp where she will get to do a ropes course.

I had the funniest email yesterday.....I don't know if I was just in the mood for it or not...but it sure made me laugh til I cried. For some reason, nobody else seems to get the same effect......

I was walking past the mental hospital the other day, and all the patients were shouting, "13...13....13...13."The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks and looked through to see what was going on.Someone poked me in the eye with a stick.Then they all started shouting. "14...14...14...14....".

Ok, was it funny? I thought it was hilarious! Don't you ever feel like your couriosity gets the best of you at times? We go poking our nose in other people's business when we were so much better to leave it alone. Just like the Bible says, "Stop worrying about the speck in your neighbor's eye when you have a plank in your own eye." Sheesh, sometimes we just gotta go and get a plank stuck in our eye just because we couldn't leave well enough alone.

Time to go wash out the conditioner....I hope you have a plank-free day!!

Our Firstborn has Graduated!

Our dearest Carly has completed her high school requirements and officially graduated on May 10, 2008. While we were celebrating her accomplishments, unfortunately others were suffering devastating tornadoes. Our prayers are with the families impacted by those tornadoes in Oklahoma and Missouri. We love you Carly and ask God to bless your future and to always be a presence in your life.
