Autumn Goodness is Upon Us.....

Yep, if you remotely like apples you MUST try this recipe!!! I is a http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/ recipe....she even has a wonderful tutorial on making it. It will only take once and you will know how to make it from memory....I PROMISE! They are called Apple Dumplings......ah, makes me think of the old movie, The Apple Dumplin' Gang......does anyone remember that movie?
RECIPE:
2 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 8 pieces
2 cans of crescent rolls
1 small can of sprite (the recipe called for Mt. Dew...I think that it might be too sweet)
2 sticks of butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 tsp. vanilla....preferably Mexican vanilla...I think it makes a difference
cinnamon
Melt butter in saucepan
add the sugar
add the vanilla
DON'T STIR TOO MUCH....it should be grainy
Spray cake pan w/ PAM or something like it....or spread some butter on it...the bottom, that is.
While that is melting, do the apples
Take one crescent TRIANGLE and roll a slice of apple in it.
Repeat until all 16 slices are used.
Lay them all pretty like in the cake pan.
Pour the melted butter goodness over the entire apple/crescent things.
Open the can of Sprite and pour it AROUND THE OUTER EDGE of the dumplings.
(This is to keep the butter goodness from washing off the top)
Sprinkle some cinnamon on the top of the dumplings...use as much or little as you see fit.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes.
Serve while warm w/ a side scoop of vanilla ice cream.....you might want to sit down after taking a bite....your legs might just give out when you taste this thing.....
Let me know if you've had it or plan to make it.....what'd you think?

I got your post on my blog and yes I am thinking about a giveaway but I don't know how to do that random picker thingy that you did. Do you still have my email? Can you email me and tell me how to do it??
